I saw a similiar value error trying to run a vb6 com based program with j6.02. New versions of J have broken the com interface in the past. Normally I would care about such things but I've decided to stop this hybrid vb/j programming and go with all J solutions. This simplifies long term maintenance.
My new software approach is to "defeature" and eliminate components whenever possible.
