I think the splitter demo was first released in Library version 6.02.016. Check Help | About J... or type JVERSION in a J session to find your currently installed version of the library. The isigraph demo (which loads scripts required for the paint demo to work) is not currently available in the Demos Select form of a jwdp session (i.e. on Mac & Linux).
