I thought I'd try IcedTea Java since John Randall reported that 64-bit Linux
j602cbeta worked on Fedora 8 using IcedTea Java.

I installed the IcedTea java that is distributed via Synaptic package manager
but had no luck running it. When I try to run ~/j602/bin/jwd, I get a dialog
box "Failed to get Java metrics".

java version "1.7.0"
IcedTea Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0-b21)
IcedTea Client VM (build 1.7.0-b21, mixed mode, sharing)

Perhaps it is something to do with the 32-bit vs 64-bit versions? Another thing
that may be different is that I'm running Ubuntu in a VMWare virtual machine.
