I thought I'd try IcedTea Java since John Randall reported that 64-bit Linux j602cbeta worked on Fedora 8 using IcedTea Java.
I installed the IcedTea java that is distributed via Synaptic package manager but had no luck running it. When I try to run ~/j602/bin/jwd, I get a dialog box "Failed to get Java metrics". java version "1.7.0" IcedTea Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0-b21) IcedTea Client VM (build 1.7.0-b21, mixed mode, sharing) Perhaps it is something to do with the 32-bit vs 64-bit versions? Another thing that may be different is that I'm running Ubuntu in a VMWare virtual machine. ---bill lam wrote: > I use ubuntu 7.10 too. > > The 32-bit java has the same version as yours > java version "1.6.0_03" > Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_03-b05) > Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.6.0_03-b05, mixed mode, sharing) > > However I can start 2 copies of ide without any problem. > > Since my ubuntu is 64-bit, I might have installed sun java32 > using this command, > sudo aptitude install ia32-sun-java6-bin ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm
