Those solutions work well for Windows.

The nicest cross-platform method to finding a computer's hostname that I know 
is:

CRLF -.~ shell 'hostname' [ require 'task'

Sockets work too:

> {: sdgethostname coinsert 'jsocket' [ load 'socket'
