To play with j701, I am running it on my web connected Linux server using the following start line (note, all the "s are required...): nohup jb -js "BROWSER_j_=:''" "load '~system/extras/util/browser.ijs'" "jhs 1500" & This frees up the session and then I can poke at it with my iPod from anywhere. It isn't a very satisfying experience yet. In some ways, the terminal emulator I've been using on the iPod is handier because it includes up/down arrows and supports readline recall etc. But I think the new approach will get better and better and part of the problems are just adjusting away from the "terminal paradigm" that has been so comfortable for 40 years... jhsupd could use a little more error reporting. The issue is that when running as above, the account with the daemon is not authorized to update the library files - jhsupd'' runs saying it has completed successfully, but of course it has not. I got around this by running it from an authorized terminal session, but to do that I had to puzzle out that I needed to load '~system/extras/util/jhserver.ijs' so that jhsupd would be available. Given all that, it seems like a nice quick way to make minor updates. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm
