Bill, I agree that sort of code is the only option at the moment and am just
trying to facilitate the re-factorizing that you suggest. The earlier we do it,
the less refactoring work required later. ;-)
I'm not sure about the IFJ7 global, it would be nice to come up with a solution
that wasn't destined to become obsolete.
