ok... discovered how. It appears a locale named 'mydemo' simply has to be present with suitable contents. This can be created eg: by running a script: mydemo.ijs which is a copy of jdemo4.ijs with the word "jdemo4" changed to "mydemo" throughout.
...the rest ought to be plain sailing. NB: if there's an error in mydemo.ijs, so that http://127.0.0.1:65001/mydemo gives a blank screen, a message gets output to the jijx session http://127.0.0.1:65001/jijx ...but you may not see it until you have entered an empty line.
