Agreed. So in Gtk IDE Package Manager the 'Updates' filter option and 'Updates' button could be renamed 'Upgradeable'. This will also help with consistency between the Gtk & JHS IDEs. If a shorter label is desired then "Upgradeable" could be replaced with "Upgrades"
Looking at the JHS ide pacman, I wonder whether a alternative (better?) solution to moving the "Remove" command to the Tools menu, would be to create another filter option "Removeable". When this filter option is selected, the Install button could be renamed/replaced with a Remove button. Another suggestion would be to change the ability to filter on either Status or Category to filtering on both at once. I.e. Instead of the radio buttons sharing a single list, there could be two separate lists. I'd also like to see the filters/selection functionality eventually make it into the JHS package manager. > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On > Behalf Of bill lam > Sent: Thursday, 25 November 2010 15:02 > To: JBeta > Subject: [Jbeta] pacman/jpkg terms not agreed > > Terms in pacman and jpkg are different, the most noticable is the > 'updates' > vs 'upgrade', Since 'update' mean updating repository cache, the name > 'upgrade' or 'upgradable' should be preferred. > > -- > regards, > ==================================================== > GPG key 1024D/4434BAB3 2008-08-24 > gpg --keyserver subkeys.pgp.net --recv-keys 4434BAB3 > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm
