I reported the same error message in another thread and have not heard
any suggestions about how to recover JHS, yet. On the Mac how do I
"kill the sleeping jconsole"? I have tried just closing the
application Terminal to do so, but still I am getting that error.

Coincidentally, my Mac shut itself down this morning, so the JHS would
launch again without that error message, but I would like to know how
to "kill the sleeping jconsole" without shutting down or logging out
of my account.
