The mix of jhs GC plot and jgtk plot is problematic. Both style plots could be made to work in both front ends and eventually this work might be done. For now the best approach is to use only GC plot in jhs and only plot (load'plot' from the addon) in jgtk.
That is, jhs plot is included in the core scripts with GC (no need for plot addon or load'plot') jgtk plot needs plot addon and load'plot' In normal use this isn't a problem (you or your app knows which front end you are using). But it is a problem in labs. For now a solution is that lab initiation ensures that plot and viewmat appropriate for the front end is available. All lab sentences that do load or require of plot and viewmat will be removed. I will do this now for the current set of labs. As has been pointed out jhs GC plot does an adequate job for many of the plots used in labs and the failure mode is not unpleasant.
