I've been using a verb "dir", as a cover for "1!:0@<", which I now find shadowed by a definition in "stdlib.ijs". This new version provides much less convenient output - a simple text matrix rather than the useful boxed output of the older, simpler use of the foreign conjunction.
I've been thinking that the transition to J7 would be a good motivation to throw out some of my custom verbs in favor of standard, system-supplied ones but, in this case, it would be a step backwards and would break many lines of existing code. Has anyone else run into issues like this? Do people agree with me about the greater utility of the boxed result compared to the text matrix? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm
