Because J is so powerful, there is more than might first meet the eye. Apple doesn't allow apps that can be used to build apps. If that sentence irritates, join the club. I'm paraphrasing and combining some of the app quidelines, but that is what it boils down to. The J programming language iOS app is for learning and working with J. You can't create or work with a GUI beyond what you directly see. This is unfortunate as it would be so easy to expose the entire GUI facilities to the J programmer as has been done on other platforms. But that is the current status. Apple has gradually relaxed in this area and there might be hope for the future. A year or 2 ago what you have now wouldn't have been allowed.
