Sorry for gatecrashing this thread but my problem is the same as MrC's
with the exception that on my XP system the server dies when you try to
start Softsqueeze.
kdf: I've done what you suggested to MrC:-
> stop the server
> open up a command prompt (start->accessories)
> cd "\program files\slimserver\server"
> slim.exe --d_plugins
> watch for any errors in the startup and you can report any of them

and it seems to have crashed the command prompt window whilst executing
line 6049.

So it does look like it could be a plug-in issue. Any suggestions as to
what to try now?
