I got the impression it was scanning the files for the meta data.  Isn't the 
meta data already available in the database?  I would have thought that any 
scanned tags could be taken from there.

Where a new file has been added since the last rescan, then browse music folder 
could decide to either scan the files for tags (might as well add them to the 
DB at this point too), or display the filename if this is the speed issue.
