Thank you for trying to help, Phil.

>From what I can gather… there is no such thing as an AlbumArtist tag
for MP3 files. However, we can get AlbumArtist-like behavior by telling
SlimServer 'Use TPE2/BAND ID3v2 tag as "ALBUMARTIST"' except for the
slight problem that this can only be done through iTunes.

Can anyone confirm if the above assumptions are true?

At the moment I have tried to make it so Compilations are not used at
all. I've set the options under "Compilations" to:
-List compilation albums under each artist
-Include compilation artists in artist list

However, I have some Albums that are getting split into two line items
when I browse by Album. When I click the album name, some albums are
listed under the first item and some are listed under a the second
item. There is no way to list all the songs from the Album when
browsing by Album. The songs are all in one folder but the track
artists are different for each song.

On other compilations, the album is listed once — as it should be.

The only differences I can see is that the ones that SlimServer is
splitting up have the artist as part of the file name set off by either
parenthesis or dashes OR, the artist is not included in the file name.
In the ones that SlimServer is not splitting up, all have the artist as
part of the file name separated by underscores.

Maybe this has something to do with the "Guess Tags" setting under
formatting. I will try taking that out and rescanning to see if it
helps. If not I guess I have to rename all those files to use
underscores instead of parenthesis or dashes.

Ugh… I am so sick of rescanning over and over and trying to figure this
all out!
