Continuing the conversation with myself :)
I think I have finally worked this out, the information below is not
correct. The problem is down to MusicMagicMixer, with this enabled then
for some various artists albums the tracks get split across multiple
albums with identical names.

Journeys by DJ" gets split into four. I can see no obvious reason
why. The albums are all flac.
