I've noticed this a few times now, but when an MP3 or OGG track is being played the small spectrum analyzer display functions correctly, but when it's a FLAC file playing the 'bouncing' of the frequency bands look a tad wrong. It's hard to pin down, but the best way I can describe it as is like it's not sampling/displaying enough times per second. I'm sure you'll know what I mean by that. It just looks like it's not 'peaking' to the music as it should be... and I'm definately sure I'm not seeing things.
