I had this problem a while back, and raised a bug report http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2787 In this case, there was a new option to tell the random mix to "Add new items when old ones finish" - if it doesn't appear you may need to delete C:\Program Files\SlimServer\server\Cache (for windows).
However, running the 2006-01-29 nightly (using slimserver.pl as the windows executable wasn't built), I've noticed that when I start a random mix from my SB2 I see "Random Mix Stopped" as soon as the mix is created and I only get 10 songs.
