In addition to my post yesterday: Something else than FW alone must be wrong over here:
I usually test the nightlies on my 'main music server' only, which is an old Mac Cube. Perfect for this 'always on' task as it has no fan. And just on this one machine I can't get SlimServer and FW29 or FW33 to work, FW28 is ok. While troubleshooting I installed Feb16 nightly on an XP and an iBook, guess what, the songs play as they should if SB3 is connected to them, with FW28, FW29 or FW33 working fine. So my guess is there must be some pref or file on that Cube that keeps the newer FW from working.
