I've done the first step, flashing with the openlink firmware. That went OK but took longer than I expected because I've not used XP for a while and my grub dual boot setting were amiss. Once XP was running I used the standard flasher tool.
I'm following the instructions at: http://linkstationwiki.org/Articles/MIPSelSlimServer The precompiled modules aren't getting picked up or are not working, so I'm using CPAN to download/install them (as per instructions on above link). I had a bit of a problem getting CPAN to work. The first CPAN server I tried was missing some files! (LWP was giving a 404 on DBI-1.50.tar.gz) So had to change the cpan urllist. Next I got an out of memory whilst installing DBI. I think I'm going to have to give up for tonite.
