I own four Squeezeboxes ... all at the same firmware level (33) and with identical networking setups (other than the IP address) ... the problem only occurs on one of the four, the remaining three have been rock-solid. I have been exchanging emails with Ross Levine regarding this issue. Answers to the requested questions, below:
Description of the symptom * Does it happen immediately upon playing? Sometimes immediately, sometimes after 20-30 seconds of successful playing. * Does it happen every time, or does it come and go? Comes and goes (but comes more often than goes) * Does it only happen with wireless networking? I only use wireless networking with my Squeezeboxes Squeezebox * What firmware version did you experience the problem with? 33 * What wireless signal strength was it reporting? Initially, it occurred with an avg wireless strength of about 30%, ranging from a low in the mid-20s to a high in the low 70s. I then moved the Squeezebox to within 10 feet of my router, with a wireless strength >90%, and the problem still occurred. WAP/Router * What Manufacturer and model of WAP or router are you using? Linksys WRT54G * What firmware version does your WAP or router have installed? Not sure * Is your Squeezebox connected via wireless or with a cable? Wireless * How heavy is your network traffic? ** Wireless? Varies, from light to moderate ** Wired? Light (only traffic is from SlimServer PC to router) ** Anything else unusual about your network? No * What kind of wireless security are you using? WEP 128 bit Server * What version of Slimserver? 6.2.2 * What oS? WinXP SP2 * What kind of CPU? Sempron * How much RAM? 768MB * Is the PC heavily loaded? No - it typically only runs SlimServer * What kind of PC network card are you using to connect to the WAP/router? (if built-in, what kind of PC?) Built-in; Powerspec 5500 PC * What format(s) are you using? Did you notice any difference between formats? WMA Lossless ** What format are you streaming in? (you can tell this by going to the slimserver -> server settings -> file types, and noting the first "stream format" checked for each "file format" I am not in the vicinity of my PC so I cannot check, but my files are WMA Lossless. -- Jon ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Jon's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2848 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=21904 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/beta
