I know the samples are low quality-- they're samples. Hearing 30 seconds of most of the tracks on a album is the advantage of shopping music on the net.
This is all the fault of the high-speed wireless capability. I'm listening to music on the stereo via the SB3 while controlling it with a wireless laptop which is where I'm surfing for more music. (I also have the FinalFour on muted TV with the captioning on, in case you want to know how freaky it gets.) So I need a way to stream Window Media output to the SB3, which is how I got to the URL Sniffer/Decoder. I'm getting the sense that my assumtions are little different than yours (quite a surprise from a user, I know). The SlimServer allows my PC to be my music server, but since it's still my PC I want to click a link to hear a stream, regardless of source or quality. I don't have PC speakers since I have a great stereo.
