Keep in mind that there are multiple buffers on the Squeezebox2/3. The buffer that empties completely is the input buffer, which contains the compressed audio. The output buffer, which contains decoded audio, and is about 10 seconds in duration, plays out while the next track loads. If a track takes more than 10 seconds to buffer up, it's not going to play back reliably anyway.
It would be possible via a software update to keep track of two or more tracks in the input buffer, but it's not clear what benefit that would provide and would make the buffering substantially more complex. The only benefit I can think of is that if you are using crossfading AND want to have a full ten seconds of crossfade, AND your network or server can't fill the input buffer quickly, you may want to prebuffer the next track in the input buffer, otherwise you may have slightly less than 10 seconds of crossfade. If you feel strongly that this would provide benefit, please feel free to file an enhancement request with the details and post here. -- dean ------------------------------------------------------------------------ dean's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=23222 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/beta
