6.2 2 is stable, officially supported release. Nightly builds (6.2.3 for this will be very low on changes, keeping to stable fixes only when needed) 6.3.0 will be in nightly builds adding basic functions for improved internet radio, and cleanup.
6.5 has several added features, Nokia770 skin, a complete rework of most skins. On the downside, it is the build for developer experiments. It may not always work on a daily basis. Things may change that you don't like, things may look funny and need some extra work on your part to handle up upgrades at any point. You will also see many more debug messages (if you watch the log) that are not always user related, but intended for developers and plugin authors. That being said, it IS at a fairly good point functionally and is officially supported.
SlimServer 6.2.2 + LazySearch 1.0 or SlimServer 6.5 beta + LazySearch 2.0
I believe that the main difference is the use of some custom columns for lazysearch data in 6.5 that helps avoid duplication of data. I'm not completely certain how much of a difference it might make to how you use it or performance.
