It's a spec for describing search queries in a structured way as part of XML.

Here's a simple example that might appear in an RSS or OPML feed that you may be browsing with your squeezebox:

<Url type="application/rss+xml" template="http://example.com/?q= {searchTerms}"/>

So a content provider could provide a list of stations or RSS feeds to browse and also let you search it via your squeezebox.
