I have been using earlier versions of 6.3 and not had this problem to the same degree, although it was still very slow (taking a few hours to scan a library that has 10,263 songs).
But with the 6-24 build, things seem to have gotten slower in the later stage of scanning, when it's pulling in playlists from iTunes. The first stage of scanning, which results in an updated display of how many albums / songs / artists are in the library, takes about an hour or two. Then it goes into a very slow stage when playlists appear very gradually on the playlist display. Then after a few hours the machine seems to almost grind to a halt - the Web interface won't display, except very gradually (brought up a fresh browser instance to display it, got the first page back in about 5 minutes, then it was unresponsive after that). So I stopped the server and restarted it - and found that it had only gotten about halfway through the list of playlists. I'm going to do another rescan from scratch and leave it alone overnight with no Web display running, and see what happens. Mac Mini running on latest OS X. Pulling the music off a NAS server over a fast wired network. This may be slowing it down a bit, but it's never taken close to this long with past releases. -- MikeGilpin ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MikeGilpin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=909 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24963 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/beta
