Ok, I either misread or misunderstood your use of 'PWD'. I assume you mean the breadcrumb trail in the top LH corner of the Fishbone skin, right (and in other places in other skins, presumably)? You mean it goes from 'Artists' to 'Artists / Fred Szymanski' when you click on 'Various Artists'? I thought that you were saying that you were seeing individual one-off artists that normally don't appear in the list - these are the ones that KDF is saying 'aren't merged yet', I think.
