I believe the header information is sent from SlimServer to the SB3...? I guess the FLAC header is consistent, so the SB3 can detect that it's a s4/48 file. As I understand it, 24/96 is outside specs, so we can't ask much there (though downsampling at SlimServer side to 24/48 would be nice).
When it comes to WAV files, there are both "standard" WAV files and "ExtWAV" (I believe it's called) with different format.
