Okay, I've now got slimserver running again. Here's how I did it:

Search snapshot.debian.net for libmysqlclient15off. This returns the
following two lines under mysql-dfsg-5.0.

deb http://snapshot.debian.net/archive pool mysql-dfsg-5.0
deb-src http://snapshot.debian.net/archive pool mysql-dfsg-5.0

Add these two /etc/apt/sources.list (you probably don't need the
deb-src line). Run apt-get update (don't worry about the IGN lines
that appear for snapshot.debian.net). Now install the non-broken
version with the following command:
apt-get install libmysqlclient15off=5.0.22-4

This will remove mysql as it depends on the later version of
libmysqlclient15off. For me this isn't a problem. However, if you
need mysql, I daresay you could work out the previous version of mysql
that is happy with the older version of libmysqlclient15off and then
install that from snapshot.debian.net as well.

I haven't pinned the version of libmysqlclient15off to this older
version, so careless use of apt-get update will break things again!
I'm hoping that it won't take long for testing to get the fixed
version, which is 5.0.24-2.
