Ah... that's got to be it. My preference is set to search within
words.
In that earlier example the '(' gets thrown away, but square brackets
do not. Maybe an enhancement request to drop some additional special
characters would be a good idea. When I asked that question in the
thread cited above it didn't seem like a pressing issue, but maybe more
consistent treatment of non-alphanumeric characters for searching would
be a good idea.
