And by that i mean, the text that is currently on the display is cleared all at once, then folder contents scrolls in.
You may consider yourself a lucky man, then: there's now that screen with the turning progress indicator between the two modes. This was introduced as browsing music folders may be very slow under some circumstances (slow machines, large collections, many folders at once etc.). If your machine is up to the task, you won't see that animation, leaving you with the impression of a missing smooth transition. Consider it a feature :-)
