I hadn't spotted (a) that there was a plugin and (b) that it was
disabled.

I should say that having finally spotted it, I then had some grief
trying to get it to go - at one point I stopped slimserver to get it to
recognise the plugin (even though I have on-the-fly set) but it wouldn't
restart, then slimtray exited... I had to manually restart the service
and kick it a few times before it worked.

I suppose one request for whoever is thinking about the "plugins" page
on the web interface --- its *really* hard to find stuff when you have
several plugins, each of which has many settings, with no visible cues
to the hierarchy (in my current setup, with only a modest number of
plugins loaded, I have 10 pages of settings to scroll through!).
