Firefox has a long history of memory issues. The problem you're
reporting isn't uncommon, and it's not related to localhost or
slimserver - it's usually a result of a page refreshing itself a lot
(as the slimserver interface does). I've had firefox take 1.5G+ just
browsing pages with a lot of images.

Are you running the latest firefox? Several people have said later
versions work better, and I haven't had any memory issues for a while.
