Well a wireless problem would show exactly that situation.  (No changes
on the display because it would be losing the display updates, of
course, and eventually it would notice that it lost the connection
completely and go black as it tried to regain it...)

You may want to try changing your wireless channel: most routers come
defaulted (in the US) to channel 6, if you go to 1 or 11 on the router
you will have no overlap with channel 6.

If you left yours at 6 and a neighbor just got one and left it there as
well, it could very well be that high activity on the neighbor's network
is harming yours.  (Or a neighbor with a cordless phone, or any of the
other junk that gets into 2.4G space...)
