I think I may be back to normal now. I believe that my router had got in some
very bad state. I did a complete factory reset and seem to have a more stable
network now.

I will play music all day to see how it goes.

I have always seen this problem, but not as frequent as I did this morning. I
suspect there is a bug in Slimserver somewhere - it seems to not recover very
well when there are network errors. I get temporary glitches across my
wireless network (with a proliferation of neighbours buying 802.11n devices).
I suspect that if that happens whilst streaming, it doesn't appear to be a
problem due to the SB buffering, but if it happens at the end of a song, it
doesn't transition to the next. Maybe related to the player option to
resume/pause after power-on? I have noticed sometimes that my SB will reboot
itself (screen goes blank, a few seconds later it goes through the startup
banner screen, redetects the network and then goes back into idle mode). My
setting is "Pause at power off/Remain paused at power on". i.e. if I press
power off, I want it to be paused when I power on, but if the squeezebox
encounters a network problem, perhaps it is pausing due to this option?

>(QNAP TS-101). What did you do to enable tracing so I can do the same?

I didn't do anything special (no extra debug switches were turned on at the
time). I record the slimserver trace to a file, but you can visit
http://localhost:9000/log.txt to see the latest trace.
