As some of you may have noticed, there are a lot of big changes
happening in SlimServer 7.0 lately -- new user interface, support for
Pandora and Rhapsody, rewritten plugins, and a host of other nifty
features. It’s probably the biggest set of changes since 6.0 appeared
over 2 years ago.

We’re ready to call it beta quality. The code is in reasonable shape. I
download the nightlies daily, and I like it a lot. But before we release
it, we wanted to make sure it was tested by the community.

But why just make a beta announcement on the forums? Why not involve
the community in a fun contest and prizes?

I am therefore announcing the Logitech® SlimServer 7.0 Find’em Contest!
The contest period starts Friday, September 28, 2007 and ends Sunday,
October 28, 2007.

Prizes

You could win 1st, 2nd, or 3rd prize for finding the most bugs or the
best bugs.

Most Bugs:

1st prize: Transporter
2nd prize: Slim Devices Squeezebox 3, black, quantity 3
3rd prize: Slim Devices Squeezebox 3, black, quantity 2

Best Bug:

1st prize: Slim Devices Squeezebox 3, black, quantity 3
2nd prize: Slim Devices Squeezebox 3, black, quantity 2
3rd prize: Slim Devices Squeezebox 3, black, quantity 1

If you already have enough Squeezeboxes or Transporters, you may
substitute any prize above with any other available Logitech products
(in equivalent retail US dollars).

Entering the Find’em Contest

You participate in the Find’em Contest by entering SlimServer 7.0 bug
reports into the Bugzilla database. The bug must be in a nightly
SlimServer 7.0 build created during the contest period. Any bug
qualifying for the contest must be entered into the Slim Devices bug
database at http://bugs.slimdevices.com using your existing or new
Bugzilla account with a valid e-mail address. All bugs entered must
have Product: SlimServer and Version: 7.0a1, with each submission
classifiable by Chris Owens, QA Manager as NEW or ASSIGNED. Each bug
report must contain only one bug, but you can enter multiple bug
reports.

Best Bug Found

The best bugs will be chosen by Dean Blackketter, Director of
Engineering, and Chris Owens, QA Manager. Judging will depend upon
difficulty in finding the bug, bug severity, age of bug, complexity of
configuration, and whether the bug report includes source code to fix
the bug.

Most Bugs Found

The most bugs found will be determined by counting the most valid
SlimServer 7.0 bugs entered during the contest by a single Bugzilla
account. If you include source code that fixes the bug in the bug
report, then that bug report counts as two bug reports – but only if
Dean Blackketter, Director of Engineering, judges the fix to be
appropriate. If there is more than one entry for the same bug, only the
bug entry with the earliest time stamp will be counted.

Would Like Everybody in the World to Participate, But ....

Various countries and provinces around the world have strict
regulations on games and contests. For our Find’em Contest, eligibility
is limited to participants who are 18 years of age or older and reside
in one of these countries:

- United States
- Canada (excluding the Province of Québec)
- United Kingdom
- Switzerland
- And most of the European Union (see Official Rules for more details)
