How done is the look of the new, new default skin now? I don't want to
start another variant of the highlight's not finished yet (I wasn't
even sure what all was being referred to as a highlight).

Jumping in anyways... For the large white areas for the left and right
sides - are those the final colors? Seems a bit empty and old school.
Most non-editable areas are not white anymore in current UI fashion.
Are there plans to put some sort of color/texture in these areas?

No idea what might be good there, though. Silver/metalic? The Vista
IE7 uses a very readable two-tone silvery/grey for the tab line.
Another thought would be something sort of translucent so the
background showed through (like Vista Areo) (probably wouldn't work out
for readability but others have said that it has been a shame to cover
up the background so much). Since it is so much of the interface it
should look cool somehow - sorry I can't come up with much of anything
in the way of ideas, though.

The squeezecenter graphic seems a bit thin and grainy to me. Bolder
text or just slightly bigger - to match the height of the player box,
perhaps - would be nicer in my opinion.

I'm figuring that the scanning progress page isn't done yet - the
graphics there have taken a major step backwards.

Would it make sense to lighten up the buttons at the top of the player
side (back, play/pause, next, repeat, suffle, etc.) a bit? They seem
to blend into the background a bit too much - it ruins the 3D effect of
them being real buttons on a device. Maybe the rest/blank area just
needs a bit more texture instead.

The graphics at the bottom of the player list are virtually unreadable
and very boring. The only one that seems somewhat clear is the clear
(x) icon. How about a red X and some 3D, at least. The save is
probably supposed to look like a disk (floppy?), but I'm not sure and
it isn't intuitive. Many people have commented upon the hide/show
artwork mess double-button single action from a function point of view
but they don't look any better, either. Unfortunately, I will also be
the first to admit that I cannot create icons even as good as this so
perhaps I shouldn't criticize (and I do mean for this to be
constructive) so take this with a grain of salt. How about following
in the same line as the Help and Settings icons? Those look very nice
and modern.

Otherwise very nice.
