I think it was only a problem when users weren't Administrators on the
system, which on Vista they generally won't be.  On other Windows
operating systems users are likely be Administrators more often than
not.

To replace the Squeezetray controls it's easy enough to create two
batch files that stop and start the service respectively:

net stop slimsvc

net start slimsvc

(Actually, I have no idea what the SqueezeCenter service is called
since the change in name from SlimServer.)

Then just put shortcuts to the batch files either in your Start menu or
Quick Launch toolbar.  Accomplishes the same thing and is pretty much
just as handy.
