Not sure which Alien install you're referring to. I have an Alien RPM
in my repo that uses beta2 but moves mplayer.sh to Alien/Bin during
rpmbuild. I don't (yet) have anything like that for a deb.

The regular Bin directory will still work too right? Users should be
able to use the beta2 tarball and just extract it to
/usr/share/squeezecenter (and fix the perms).

I noticed that the root of that tarball is still Plugins. AFAIK, all
other plugins have the root one level lower so it can just be extracted
within Plugins. You may want to change this to be consistent with
others now that you don't need to do that anymore.

Not sure. This may be bug 5620 or a problem with the deb not shutting
down before a remove. I've tested all this kind of stuff on the RPM,
but I can't speak confidently about the deb.
