I have reinstalled mysql several times now (even tried to build from source), but I end up with the signal 11 problem every time. Looks like ReadyNAS people got same problem with Slimserver: http://www.infrant.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7129&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=fixslimserver0++bin&start=0 Memory seems fine, but my NAS has 32MB only. Could extensive swapping trigger the problem?
