We've had another issue where an installer wouldn't replace existing files. I wonder whether we're seeing something related here: it still crashes because it's using an existing library file. Could you please uninstall the existing 7.1 before you re-install the new version? Configuration files etc. should stay in place (unless you tell it to remove them, too).
