Is this the beta 7.0.2 in Portage? Just so I know which one it is you're 
dealing with.

If it's just stopping it would suggest the scanner is failing on a 
specific file or directory.

Could you turn on some logging options in settings (there are some to do 
with scanning), restart the scan, then check the SqueezeCenter and 
SqueezeCenter scanner logs in /var/log/squeezecenter/server.log and 
/var/log/squeezecenter/scanner.log.

Hopefully you'll find a particularly file causing a problem - you could 
then try moving that out of the way and seeing if the scanner gets to 
the end. That should help to narrow down the problem. I've contributed 
that Gentoo package and so I'd be interested in whether it's the 
package, the music file, or SqueezeCenter that has a problem here.
