Michael, I ran all the test installs as requested. None of them failed with the Exception error that I reported at the beginning of this thread. I'm running Windows Firewall in its default configuration and I'm using Sophos AV. When I loooked at the firewall after running these test installs, I found that there were about 15 entries for SqueezeCenter listed in the allowed applications! I deleted them all and then re-ran the install for the latest actual build of 7.1 and it installed without any errors.
I'll make an effort to download each nightly build from now on and let you know if I see further errors. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.
