This problem of starting services has persisted on and off for about 1.5 years now !!
On some builds I put in registry changes to make SqueezeCenter depend on MySQL Service and it worked. Most recent build (See subject) I was too lazy to dig up registry changes and instead just set MySQL to manual from automatic and it seems to work. I'm running on XP SP3. On cold boots MYSql is stuck stopping and SqueezeCenter is stopped. What I suspect is happening is MySQL is in the middle of starting when SqueezeCenter tries to connect and it boogers up. Behavior may vary depending on the performance of the machine if tries to connect right at the wrong time. By setting it to Manual it synchronizes (serializes) startup. I did several cold boots with MySQL set automatic and it would fail to start every time. I only set MySQL to manual and tried several cold boots and it's happy now. I think this subtle startup issue is tripping up a lot of folks. By running it as Desktop Application it also avoids the problem because by the time the Desktop is started MySQL should be stable. -- mswlogo Thinkpad XP SS > Cat5 > Transporter > SPDIF-COAX > Meridian G68ADV (Trifield, Room corrected, Upsampled) > DSP6000 Mains, DSP5500HC Center, DSP33 Rears ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mswlogo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9090 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51005 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/beta
