It's no secret that in Windows you can change the location of any
special folder. All information is in the registry, but there are many
ways that the default Windows configuration can be changed, rather than
edit the registry.

This includes Documents & Settings, My Documents, My Music, Windows
install folder, etc.

SC will simply get the underlying path that is pointed to by the
special "My Music" folder.

I changed a lot of those paths in my PC. I think I initially changed
My Music to point to a different folder because of WMP or iTunes, which
insisted on writing to that folder (couldn't change one of those apps to
write its files elsewhere).

WMP had a habbit of finding album artwork and modifying folder.jpg
files and making them hidden system files. This caused me to lose
better quality images with silly thumbnails from time to time.

So I changed My Music to point to another folder, and keep my real
music files on another hard disk partition, where I believe it is
safer. I configure all of my music apps to read from that path rather
than rely on "My Music".

I don't think I'm alone in this configuration - it's quite common for
users to keep their music outside of "My Music".
