I haven't been able to get SqueezePlay to work without being able to get to UDP port 3483 on SqueezeCenter. Since you can't easily do UDP forwarding through SSH I don't think it will work. I'm not sure what the UDP dependency is (I've been meaning to get some packet traces) but it is definitely there.
Later builds of SqueezePlay have a much better looking Desktop skin, with play/pause, and previous/next track controls on screen, clickable.
