A full rescan always works.
One thing that has caught me out before is if mp3 files have both id3v1 and id3v2 tags. You may have only changed the title in the id3v2 tag, and the scanner picks up id3v1 first? When something like this happens to me, I open the files in Mp3Tag, and press the Delete Tags button (Mp3Tag is configured to remove all tag formats), and then press the Undo button (Mp3Tag is configured to write only id3v2.3 tags).
