What AV did you have ? Some is a pain to unistall, I had norton once i had to download a special uninstall tool from them to get rid of it, and run it several times and flush registry, temp whatever in between. But i'm still to this day not sure that it is really gone. Some AV software seems to have rootkit like quality's.
