I've found that you don't even need to clear the cache folder. 
Everyday I download the latest SBC firmware and just put it in the
cache folder.  Then go to Settings/Advanced/Software Update on the SBC
and it sees the new firmware and asks to load it.

My routine everyday is to shut down SC, go download the latest SC
version, download the latest SBC firmware and put it in the cache
folder, restart SC, then go to settings/advanced/software update.  So
far I've never had a glitch and with in a few minutes I am on the
latest SC and SBC software and running again.

The only thing that gets me every time is I now go to Rhapsody to see
if it works on the SBC and when I try it, it appears to be working, but
in reality is Pandora for some reason.  I go in and clear it from my SBC
in SC and then try again.  Sadly, so far, no Rhapsody :-(
