I think the sound quality problems break down into two elements: i) hiss and ii) noise artifacts that sound similar to AM radio in bad weather ;-(
Actually I think the hiss (i) may be coming from the source material i.e. the controller is -- dare I say it -- too revealing of source quality issues. But on the other hand I think the "AM radio" noise (ii) is coming from the controller itself; my hypothesis is that it is a (power supply borne) noise leakover from the wifi receiver into the audio stages. newy;365474 Wrote: > Just tried it again tonight after changing my stream format from WAV to > FLAC (ALAC files) and all the hiss is gone. Not sure if that was the > problem but it sounds great now! I can confirm that Newy's discovery about changing from WAV to FLAC also seemed to improve things for me. And indeed this is consistent with my wifi leakover hypothesis, since WAV uses a lot more wifi bandwidth than FLAC or other stream formats do... -- AndrewFG Regards, AndrewFG ------------------------------------------------------------------------ AndrewFG's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15838 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=55738 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/beta
